Context
As part of our evolving partnership with IMREED, the Mediterranean Institute for Environmental Risk and Sustainable Development, we have established a research chair dedicated to studying the uses of tomorrow's smart homes. The goal was to work with all partners to define personas and scenarios to be validated in a physical environment. Based on five major research themes: Adaptable, Sustainable, Vigilant, Friendly, and Assistive.
In this project, Epicnpoc's objective was to take part in the chair's UX discussions and to integrate our Bowl Studio software in order to pilot the different technological components and carry out full-scale tests.
Missions
After taking part in the first workshops, my job was to summarize the UX goals, refine them, and present them so they could be tested directly in a real environment. Since we were providing the software to run these scenarios, I had to work with our team of developers to improve and integrate the features required by the institute's members.
Realisations
After exploring all the interactions between users, technologies, and the home, I designed and developed the first demonstration of the environment. The main objective was to demonstrate a simple and comprehensive overview of the various points of interest in the ecosystem. Each demonstration consists of two distinct parts: the first is the step-by-step scenario and control of the technologies, and the second is the interface dedicated to the demo presenter, allowing them to skillfully control the smooth running of the demonstration and adapt to the audience.
Challenges
Project in constant evolution, change of partners, integration of new start-ups.
Many technical constraints severely limiting experiential possibilities.
What I learned
Integration of a research chair with numerous partners.
My first project applying the Experience Design process, software integration, and hardware deployment.
